For the next sixty days the oddest group of people you can imagine seeing in one place will prance, strut, backslap and arm twist their way into taking a little bit of your liberty and perverting it to some other purpose than the one God gave you as the Kentucky Legislature convenes in Frankfort for the 2014 session.
Gambling, taxes, pension funding and a myriad of special pet projects and recognitions will feed their egos and tap your prosperity.
Odds are not much of great consequence will be decided though you'd never know it if you listen to them tout their successes in emails, on television and in the newspapers.
Battles will be fought for the sake of fighting. Victories will be declared from agreements and unfinished work will likely force a special session with extra pay for the legislators and their staffs.
All the while, lurking in the background will be several hundred campaigns underway as we speak.
Beware the Ides of March.
