As a very proud father I am thrilled to share this news from the NRA with you:
Fairfax, Virginia - The National Rifle Association's Annual Service Award Ceremony was held yesterday afternoon at NRA Headquarters in Fairfax, Virginia. Hosted by Human Resources Director Linda Crouch, the Service Award Ceremony recognizes the tenure and achievements of those who work for America's largest civil rights organization.
In addition to Crouch, Wayne LaPierre, NRA President James Porter, NRA 1st Vice President Alan Cors, G.O. Executive Director Kyle Weaver, NRA-ILA Executive Director Chris Cox, NRA Treasurer and CFO Woody Phillips along with NRA Secretary Major James Land waited to greet the award recipients.
"The heart and soul of the NRA are its members and the job that you all do as a family," NRA President James Porter told the crowd. "We have the best staff, the best dedicated employees of any organization in this country. All of our success is based on the work that you do. And I personally want to thank you for each and every thing that you do and the part that you play."
First called to the line were those who reached a five year employment plateau. While plenty had broke five and ten year barrier, including yours truly on the former, there were also a few who surpassed the 40 year bar (a followup with the 40 year veterans will appear next week).
Also included in the mix were the Outstanding Achievement Awards. They are reserved for those who demonstrate the ability to work together, who think beyond the task at hand to even greater things, cost savings, innovation, and above all – putting self-interest aside to help others succeed.
People like Daniel Carey from ILA State & Local. What did Daniel do to earn such an honor?
Daniel worked an incredibly long number hours fighting countless legislative efforts in some of our more contentious battlegrounds. He testified before committees, built coalitions, coordinated grassroots efforts, and personally tracked down numerous legislators to advocate NRA’s position against gun control legislation. He did this not for one state but for four. Nothing suffered, nothing slipped and because of his efforts, Daniel Carey receive one of a handful of NRA's 2013 Outstanding Achievement Awards.
