Look, we all know that sex sells, but ask any decent woman and she will tell you that ads which objectify women, that is make them "objects" merely to be looked at are insulting. Recently Alison Lundergan Grimes tweeted a picture of herself. The goal: presumably to call out Mitch McConnell on "the gun issue."
But take another look at the photo. She invites Mitch to go shooting with her. Yet she appears in the photo to be poorly outfitted for shooting. No visible eye protection, no visible hearing protection, yet she is dressed in a tight fitting sleeveless top.
On one hand she isn't doing anything worse than the the women on Fox News are apparently required to do but clearly the picture is a far cry from, say, Sarah Palin's gun handling photos.
Of course many people have made fun of her tweet for a variety of reasons, but for a candidate so determined to get the women's vote, I would think avoiding photos which can be criticized for "objectifying" women would be a good idea.
You be the judge. Does this photo say anything about Alison, or is it just using her as a prop?
