In last night's debate President Obama says he wants to re-institute the "assault weapons ban". Guess what that means? The price of AK-47's, AR-15's and other similar tactical weapons will go through the roof between now and November 6, and should Obama win, they will continue to climb even higher.
But there was also a gaffe, lost on many, made by Romney which he needs to correct. With over 100 million gun owners in this nation, many of whom know the rules very well, Romney's statement that "machine guns are illegal" was quite simply, wrong and we know it.
Machine guns are not illegal to buy, own, possess or shoot, so long as you buy them from a legal seller and pay the government a $200 special tax implemented under the Gun Control Act of 1934. Prior to that you could go into just about any hardware store and buy a Thompson Sub-Machine gun. Now you only have to buy from a dealer with a Class III license and pay an extra tax.
Machine guns are not illegal and in fact, are a lot of fun to shoot, if you can afford the ammo.
