Mr. Carey, where in the U.S. Constitution, the foundational compact delegating only certain enumerated powers to the federal government, is the federal government empowered to go to war for humanitarian grounds? If the federal government is indeed one of limited powers, how can an action not delegated to the federal government be permissible without establishing a limitless precedent? Do Americans not pay taxes for their defense, and not the defense of Syrians? Perhaps you wish to donate the proceeds of your lovely farm to the FSA and their Al Qaeda acolytes in their attempt to establish Syria as a Sunni Muslim state instead of a secular regime, but don't seek to confiscate my Arizonan cattle ranch through the redistribute clutches of the taxman.

Regards.

[Marc's Reply: Your underestimate the powers granted to Congress. If our nation sees an injustice anywhere in the world we have granted our Congress the right to issue letters of Marque and Reprisal to deal with individuals who are engaged in battles which do not deserve declaring war against a foreign country. In fact, Ron Paul urged just such action following 9-11. You might look at the Marque and Reprisal Act of 2001 and Ron Paul's suggestion that we take such action against the Somali pirates operating in the Gulf of Aden. Don't be so quick to grab the half truth mantra of the day passed around by the more ignorant members of society. Thanks for the comment.]

I find your comments utterly lacking in rational reasoning it makes me wonder where your loyalties lie and how much does your loyalty cost.

If it is about saving lives, can we not consider the last 50 years and the added lives lost in any foreign adventure into which our government had decided to intervene?

You don't need a crystal ball to predict that intervention into Syria will cost exponentially more lives than if we do nothing.

Ron Paul does not control the legislature or the executive branch and yet you are blaming him for our lack of action. That is a little odd don't you think?

Can I blame you for the deaths in Colorado since we all know you have been advocating for years to allow this nut case to obtain weapons as easily as possible?

If you wish to sink to demagoguery, at least use a bit more logic.

God Bless.

Taking responsibility means taking PERSONAL responsibility, not angrily insisting that other people's sons and daughters go risk their lives in some god-forsaken sandbox on the other side of the planet in a civil war that doesn't concern us.

That means you get your hunting rifle down off the wall and go help the rebels yourself, and leave the rest of us out of it.

"America, with the same voice which spoke herself into existence as a nation, proclaimed to mankind the inextinguishable rights of human nature, and the only lawful foundations of government.

She has, in the lapse of nearly half a century, without a single exception, respected the independence of other nations while asserting and maintaining her own.

She has abstained from interference in the concerns of others, even when conflict has been for principles to which she clings, as to the last vital drop that visits the heart.

Wherever the standard of freedom and Independence has been or shall be unfurled, there will her heart, her benedictions and her prayers be.

But she goes not abroad, in search of monsters to destroy.

She is the well-wisher to the freedom and independence of all.

She is the champion and vindicator only of her own."
