The Los Angeles Times reports that President Obama has appointed Dalia Mogahed to his Advisory Council on Faith-Based and Neighborhood Partnerships. The appointment of Mogahed, an Egyptian-American has caused some rejoicing in Egypt, according to the report.
The story goes on to say that Arabs are looking for signs that the new Administration "is making efforts to improve relations with Islam, which many Muslims
believe were severely damaged during the eight years of the Bush
administration."
Well, if declaring that we are not at war with Islam was not enough to help Arabs feel better about Obama, perhaps appointing a Jihadist will help.
According to Jihad Watch, the appointment of Mogahed has done just that:
Mogahed, along with John Esposito, cooked the results of a Gallup survey of Muslims to increase the number of "moderates."
Mogahed was also a member of U.S.-Muslim Engagement Project, which called for engagement with Muslim Brotherhood. (Thanks to Jeffrey Imm for both links.)
The Muslim Brotherhood is dedicated, in its own words, to "a kind of grand Jihad in eliminating and destroying the Western civilization from within and 'sabotaging' its miserable house by their hands and the hands of the believers so that it is eliminated and God's religion is made victorious over all other religions."
Is this what is meant by letting the camel get his nose under the tent?
