There are many things we can do on New Year's Eve. I have chosen to look back at the year and recall some of the things for which I am thankful.
PERSONAL: On the personal front I am thankful for continued good health, for the love of my family and the ceaselessly amazing gentleness of my wife. I am thankful that in dark economic times God has seen that our needs were met and directed us how to meet them. I am thankful for the friendships which add flavor to my life and for the many new relationships I have developed with many of my readers and newly acquired acquaintances. I anticipate that all of these things will grow in value in the upcoming year.
POLITICS: I am thankful for the election of Barack Obama. He has unintentionally provided the catalyst to re-unite many Americans in defending and advancing the cause of liberty. The threat he poses to our way of life has awakened in millions of people an awareness of our personal responsibility for the preservation of this republic. I am thankful for the emergence of new faces willing to step up into the world of public service, as candidates, as leaders of movements and as fresh voices joining the chorus to which I have happily belonged for decades.
MENTAL HEALTH: I am thankful for the increasing respect being given to independent voices in competition with the mainstream media. I am thankful for the patience of those who encouraged this old dog to learn about the "New Media" and teaching me how to use it responsibly. In the end, an open dialog between all of us strengthens our minds, encourages reasoning and allows us to better discern BS when we see it.
"THE MARCUS CAREY PERSPECTIVE": I am thankful for the incredible success of "The Marcus Carey Perspective" and how well it has been received by the good folks at Radio For Conservatives, and you who subscribe. It is truly humbling to watch as the number of people who care to listen increases daily. I can't say thank you enough for your loyalty to my work here at Bluegrass Bulletin and all of our work at The Conceived In Liberty Project.
And now, as I sit in the drizzling rain under a tent acclimating my body for the next truly "out there" wilderness adventure I thank God for giving me life, leading me to this moment in time and granting me the ability to appreciate just how wondrous is the world He created for us. In all things I see the hand of God, and for that vision I give the greatest thanks of all.
But then again, that's just, The Marcus Carey Perspective.
Happy New Year everybody!
