When Barack Obama announced that he was going to release some of our Strategic Oil Reserves, the price of oil plummeted. Those who had "shorted" oil stood to make a killing. For those of us paying attention, the public story is rarely the real story. Who is shorting oil? Answer that question and open your mind.
Most of the political moves made in Washington DC, including decisions to enter or leave wars, are made to advance the private interests of some extremely powerful people. What most of us cannot grasp is that there are extraordinarily wealthy people in the world who not only want wealth, but lust after the power which comes with massive wealth.
And this is not a new development. It has been the case throughout the history of mankind. Crusades and conquests were fought to gain power, enslave people and to capture their treasure. Today's world operates the same way, with a few exceptions.
By keeping people ignorant of the facts, working in secrecy and allowing a controlled degree of liberty to exist, those who want to dominate world power and wealth can manipulate the system below radar much more effectively than by armed invasions.
The results are the same however. The rest of us toil away with those at the top reaping the vast rewards of our labor. And by "at the top" I don't mean America's "rich". I mean the wealthiest people in the world, who own and control more than you or any "rich" American can even contemplate. I'm talking about the kind of people who can personally finance both sides in a war, out of their pockets, to the tune of billions of dollars and not have even a fraction of their holdings at risk.
Oh, you don't know about them? Well never look for them on the cover of Forbes or Fortune, you will never see them parading their riches on television or in the Wall Street Journal, and for good reason.
They buy and control the media to help cover what they do.
