Something is going on behind the scenes at the Northern Kentucky Airport. Kenton Judge Steve Arlinghaus has just picked a fight with all of Ohio by making some rather surprising comments at the opening of a recent Airport Board Meeting. Arlinghaus has a challenger in the May primary but it isn't the governor of Ohio.
Arlinghaus is quoted in the Enquirer as having made an opening statement in which he accused Ohio of trying to take over control of the airport, to which a board member from Cincinnati responded quickly by saying that Arlinghaus had destroyed the united front needed to make the airport prosper.
I have heard the same rumors you have heard, I am sure, that there is a battle among board members over replacing the CEO that is being waged in a very secretive way. And of course Arlinghaus, being the appointing authority for the Airport Board, is going to get smeared with whatever mud gets thrown.
But he can't blame others for any of the backlash his latest comments might deliver. He picked a fight he didn't need to pick with a state that already has enough reason, politically, to stand in the way of many things the people of Northern Kentucky want and need.
