No wonder grandma seems so happy these days. According to the New York Times it's more than twice as likely now as it was in 2002 for senior citizens to fire up a joint and not just to treat glaucoma. It seems that older Americans are beginning to enjoy a little buzz with friends in social settings.
The National Survey on Drug Use and Health reported in 2011 that 6.3 percent of adults between the ages of 50 and 59 used the drug. That number has risen from 2.7 percent in 2002.
And anecdotal evidence points to much of this use being sociable rather than medical.[NYT]
Now the question becomes, will they 'Bogart' that joint when the grandkids come over?
