And now ladies and gentlemen, President Barack Obama, brought to you by THIS GUY:
Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) said Sunday that he is willing to consider supporting new tax revenue as part of a plan to avert $85 billion in looming budget cuts, as the White House pushed back against Republican lawmakers who say President Obama is solely responsible for the spending reductions. @Bill Adkins
You are exactly correct and appear to be much more sophisticated than a congressman that thinks and talks in terms of soundbites.
But what is the end game? We can't grow our way out of it. Even Krugman admits that.
His proposal is to print our way out of it. He suggests inflation is the key to fixing the economy. You seem smart enough to know what that means to the middle class and the poor.
The Tea Party folks like Rand Paul think we should simply take our medicine now, balance the budget, and tighten our belts for a few years.
Those are really the only two solutions.
Which one do you think is the most progressive ... ergo ... least painful for the least fortunate and most painful for the most fortunate?
That is really it in a nutshell. The question then becomes, are you smart enough to figure out the right answer.
God Bless

Then there was Eric Cantor yesterday essentially telling Americans that to save the economy the US gov't should do the equivalent of staying home Saturday night, eat mac and cheese and play board games -- as if such simplistic solutions will do anything but damage the economy. The economy is a system, a vital, active set of moving parts and gears and needs fuel. That's investing in infrastructure, in education, in our citizens - we cannot afford, cannot endure, the Tea Party/Cantor proposed equivalent of putting the economy up on blocks in front of the single wide. Next he'll propose putting it in reverse to take miles off the odometer.
