Here is the description of the new Senator from Texas, Ted Cruz:
Tea party darling Ted Cruz has been sworn in as U.S. senator and says his first order of business will be introducing a bill he knows will never pass.
Fueled by grassroots support, Cruz could become a rising star among Capitol Hill conservatives following the retirement of tea party leader U.S. Sen. Jim DeMint of South Carolina. [CBS Houston]
That pretty much sums it up. Becoming a "rising star" and a "tea party darling" counts for far more than getting anything done.
And you STILL can't see through what these ego-maniacs are up to, really? How about hitching their wagon to the long gravy train of a federal paycheck, perks and publicity by pandering to people knowing full well that failure is now a badge of honor, thus securing their political futures far beyond what the risk takers who actually get in there an fight can expect.
Kinda reminds me of those cowards throwing rocks at our soldiers who run and hide whenever the real battles start.
But I guess its the times we live in. As someone once said, we've traded heroes among the younger generation. We've traded John Wayne for Harry Potter.
God help us.

There are two prongs to this story. And they don't equate cause and effect, in my opinion. One is that is is very common that the congressmen introduce and support bills that will not "pass". But you have to start somewhere advocating for your legislation, right? You don't very well start with a squishy proposal where you end up catering to the leftist initiatives in the end. Because you have to win support without abandoning your principles.
Second, the liberal media likes to invoke celebrity language because they figure it irritates the conservative ideas about public service.
Introducing a bill is certainly not a way to become a celebrity. Why not accuse every other senator of the same when they introduce bill? My guess is Cruz just got a red target painted on his back courtesy of CBS.
