A student with a grudge after having been suspended for failing grades went on a shooting spree at the Appalachian School of Law. Waving his gun at fleeing students he then opened fire killing the dean, a professor and a student. Two other students ran to their cars, retrieved hand guns and confronted the shooter.
They ordered him to drop his weapon and held him until police arrived. The armed students are credited with having saved the lives of many who would have been victims if they had not been armed citizens.
This and many other stories of armed citizens coming to the rescue of their fellow Americans can be found at THIS LINK.
