Do you feel as if your voice isn't being heard in Washington DC? Maybe that's because the only people you talk to are your friends. How often do you call your Congressman, follow his schedule and show up at his events to make your voice heard? Most of the people showing up are fawning supporters who don't speak for you.
So, with a new year approaching I have a suggestion. Make YOUR voice heard in the ear of your congressman or senator. They cannot easily ignore flooded switchboards, filled e-mail boxes or stacks of snail mail all pressing them to do something specific.
Don't just call, or write, to bitch. Call and write to bitch and tell them specifically what you want done. Then make a point to call again and again and again until it gets done. And if they aren't responding the way you like, go to their offices, go to their homes, go to the places where they gather people around them and get LOUD!
Of course you need to be respectful and lawful, but I would think this goes without saying, but I need to say it anyway these crazy days I guess.
But do not let them go off to Congress and vote the way people with money and influence want them to vote. Make sure they hear you, loud and clear.
