Marc's Movie Review: "Cowboys And Aliens"

Do you like action films?  Do you like cowboy movies?  Do you like Harrison Ford?  How about Daniel Craig?  If you answered "yes" to any of the above, that would be reason enough to go see this flick, but the real reason to go is because it does just what a movie is supposed to do.  It entertains and provides an escape.

I know it sounds hokey, and, well, on any rational level it is.  But somehow they made it work.

The entire story is in the title, so nothing to add about that.  But Daniel Craig plays a really good tough guy, Harrison Ford has become his own character and the rest of the cast lends just enough star power and familiar faces to let you know that some in Hollywood took this thing kinda seriously.

Special effects are pretty good.  Computer generated scenes are pretty flawless.  Outdoor photography is as big as the west and there's plenty of, although the movie did have a few slow spots.

If you have the spare cash and are looking for a good mood movie, I say saddle up and get on down to see 'Cowboys and Aliens'.  I don't think you'll be disappointed.

Further Evidence Of Control By The Banking Cabal

If you haven't read the book by G. Edward Griffin, "The Creature From Jekyl Island", get it and read it.  Yes it is a slog, but you must become educated with regard to the banking cabal which controls not only the money, but the political decisions of nearly every country on earth.  The power in their hands is astounding.

Here is a bit of a glimpse into just how much power they have.

As the debt-ceiling storm intensifies, some reports indicate that the White House, and perhaps the global financial markets, are less concerned with paying bills after Aug. 2 than with credit-rating agencies imposing their first-ever U.S. government downgrade, from AAA to AA+.

How did it come to this—that a trio of private-sector companies could wield such enormous influence?...Somehow, these inept groups again find themselves destabilizing the global system in the name of preserving it.

While there are more than 100 credit-rating agencies worldwide, three—Moody’s, Fitch, and Standard & Poor’s—occupy their own particular universe, the products of a New Deal ruling from the SEC that enshrined "nationally recognized statistical rating organizations” to ensure that the bonds held by insurance companies, banks, and broker-dealers were appropriate for their capital requirements.

From this well-intended decision, three new private-sector firms attained the status of government regulators but with none of the oversight.

These agencies also evaluate private debt. And it was their continual stamp of approval on trillions of dollars of ultimately worthless mortgage-backed securities that allowed pension funds, endowments, and municipalities to buy them up in the erroneous belief that they were safe and sound. That decision cost taxpayers hundreds of billions of dollars.

Yet here they are again, threatening to downgrade the debt of the United States—potentially costing taxpayers hundreds of billions, again, in the form of higher interest payments—because they don’t like the messiness of the political process and they don’t approve of the level of debt relative to GDP, so said David Beers of S&P.

But, really—and I mean this in the most respectful way—who the hell is David Beers and who elected him to be the arbiter of the American financial system?

[T]he result is that a few individuals who answer to no one but their own corporate boards can cause massive dislocations. That’s absurd. [The Daily Beast]

An honest assessment of the country’s projected revenue and expenses over the next generation would show a reality different from the apocalyptic visions conjured by both Democrats and Republicans during the debt-ceiling debate. It would be much worse.

Failure to increase the borrowing limit would harm American prestige and the global financial system. But that’s nothing compared with the real threats to the U.S.’s long-term economic health, which will begin to strike with full force toward the end of this decade: Sharply rising per-capita health-care spending, coupled with the graying of the populace; a generation of workers turning into an outsize generation of beneficiaries. Hoover Institution Senior Fellow Michael J. Boskin, who was President George H.W. Bush’s chief economic adviser, says: “The word ‘unsustainable’ doesn’t convey the problem enough, in my opinion.”

The TEA party is being given credit for stopping the passage of the Boehner bill in Congress tonight.  Rand Paul addressed this matter very directly.

“House leaders tonight were forced to postpone their plan to raise the debt ceiling. As I have stated all week, I oppose the House plan because not only does it not balance, it adds at least $7 trillion to our national debt over the next 10 years.

“I urge Congressional leaders and the White House to take note: The plan in Congress that had the most support was the one that also required a Balanced Budget Amendment to the Constitution. It passed with bipartisan support in the House last week, and had the support of every single Senate Republican.

“I am willing to compromise on the details of the cuts and caps in the Cut, Cap, and Balance plan, but I continue to believe that we must solve our debt crisis if we are going to temporarily raise the debt ceiling. The only real way to do this is to balance the budget, permanently, through a constitutional amendment.

“Supporters of this approach are ready and willing to work with the White House and Congressional leaders to secure a path forward. I urge Congressional leadership and the Administration to join us in securing our children’s future and fixing our fiscal mess now, before it is too late.”

The national media has taken notice of the rise of the TEA party in this crucial debate.

Just as the Washington narrative had started to shift a bit from "House Speaker John Boehner doesn't have the juice to get his conference to support him" to "Boehner is getting his fellow Republicans to rally around him" it shifts back to the former.

That's because he was unable to get enough members of the Republican conference to commit to voting for his debt-ceiling increase.

The message many analysts are bound to take away from this episode is that the tail is wagging the dog to a degree a large degree in the House Republican conference, namely members linked to the Tea Party, including freshmen. [Bloomberg]

There have been few if any moments in my more than half century of life where I sense the emergence of a power from among the people like what is happening before our eyes right now.

We have not only come to take our country back, we will settle for nothing less and will never turn back from our quest.  So help us God.

People wonder, what is Congress thinking, what is the President thinking, why can't they solve the debt ceiling issue?  Please take a moment to understand debt.  Debt is a promise to pay someone a sum of money, with interest.  Why do people lend money?  For the interest. Loaning money is an investment.

Barack Obama said that grandma might not get her social security check if the debt ceiling isn't raised.  He said that your mortgage payment might go up, if the debt ceiling isn't raised.  The top economic advisers from Wall Street currently in charge of things in the Obama Administration predict chaos if the debt ceiling Isn't raised.

In contrast, guess who they are scrambling to reassure?

The U.S. Treasury will give priority to making interest payments to holders of government bonds when due if lawmakers fail to reach an agreement to raise the debt ceiling, according to an administration official. [Bloomberg]

That's right, grandma can go over the cliff, but under no circumstance will the big bankers have anything to worry about. 

Forget the fact that loaning money is a risk.  How many times have you heard some legal-eze recited at machine gun speed following an investment commercial, reminding you that all investments come with risks, that there are no guarantees and that you should never invest more than you can afford to lose?

My God people, do you not see who is running the show?  Debt benefits the lender.  Interest is his profit.  Paying off debt deprives him of profit.  Increasing debt increases his profit.  Who pays the interest?  You and I pay that interest.

Our elected officials are merely tools of the powerful banking interests who loan trillions of dollars to the United States in exchange for billions of dollars in interest (profits).  With that kind of money they have a much superior advantage in controlling the message in their campaign designed to convince even the most highly placed elected officials that increasing our national debt is good for the country.

They own the media.  They own the Congress.  They own the message.  But they don't own "We The People", yet.

Patriots, WAKE UP!

After yesterday's bombshell report that Steve Beshear lied for political gain, today another bomb went off and this one took Beshear to the mat.  No longer able to hide behind the skirt of a "spokesman" a video has surfaced showing Beshear, in his own words, directly lying to a reporter when asked a direct question.

The emergence of the new video has thrust the issue of Beshear's dishonesty and un-trustworthiness directly into the spotlight.

The Williams Farmer campaign took notice citing the AP story by Roger Alford which exposed the original lie.

More details emerged last night regarding Governor Beshear’s intentionally misleading everyone about President Obama’s visit to Ft. Campbell in May. Video emerged last night of Beshear himself – not a spokesperson – repeating the lie about why he didn’t attend the Obama visit.

Heading into Fancy Farm it looks like the Williams-Farmer 2011 campaign is building up a full head of steam. 

Maybe it's time to resurrect my old mantle for the silver cricket "Steve BS".

When I continue to press for the complete renovation of Congress next year, as well as winning 1/3 of the Senate and the Presidency, I am talking about the kind of peaceful revolution which our founders specifically built into our constitution, a bloodless, fair, governmental overthrow using due process of law.

It seems that Charles Krauthammer understands the problem too.

On Tuesday’s The O’Reilly Factor, political pundit Charles Krauthammer responded to the position taken by many in the Tea Party movement on the debt ceiling debate.

“I respect what they want to do; I share what they want to do: shrink the government,” he said. But at a time when the country is going into debt and destroying everything in its path, Krauthammer said that Conservatives need to understand the only way to stop the damage, according to our Constitutional system, is to control the White House and the Congress.

“You cannot govern from one branch. All the Conservatives control now is half a branch … and under our system, you’ve got to have it all.” he said. “All of us respect the Constitution; it sort of defines the new Conservatism. If you believe in it, then respect the Constitution, understand its restraints, and win the election in November.”

The only way that can happen? Persuade the country that America needs a smaller, more Constitutional government.

“Get your ass in line,” Boehner demanded at a closed-door meeting of the entire House Republican conference this morning. “I can’t do this job unless you are behind me.”

According to Republicans at the meeting, Boehner made an impassioned plea for his debt ceiling plan is the very best that Republicans could hope to achieve even as he acknowledged that it falls short of spending cuts that most of them want.

Boehner’s “ass in line” speech seemed to have an impact. Republicans emerged from the meeting appearing to be more unified.

At least a few of them who went into the meeting opposed to Boehner’s plan, including archconservative presidential candidate Thaddeus McCotter, R-Mich., came out saying they would support it.

One freshman Republican, Rep. Blake Farenthold of Texas, who had expressed concern over the plan, said he is starting to come around in support of the bill now that he has realized “you can’t get everything in one fell swoop.”

Well  maybe some Congressmen can accept that truism, but WE THE PEOPLE don't have to accept it.  Yes we can get what we want in one fell swoop.  Next November, every single member of the House can be replaced with people who will in fact settle for nothing less than ending our addiction to deficit spending.

And while we are at it, we can replace one third of the Senate and the President and in "one fell swoop" right this ship of state.

But will we?  Depends on whether we are more interested in what the gals on "Real Housewives" are up to than in taking back our country.
