We have all seen the antics which go on display at Fancy Farm. Well it seems some of Trey Grayson's supporters can't seem to let go of all that fun.
According to "Twenty Ten" on Facebook, a Trey Grayson supporter showed up at a Rand Paul rally today wearing a chicken suit, and a mask. Apparently the mask was against the law and a nice policeman had to explain it to the costumed heckler.
Seriously folks, this kind of behavior adds nothing to the debate.
What is particularly odd is that almost simultaneously with Grayson spending a ton of campaign dough on ads suggesting that Rand Paul has strange ideas, THIS is how his own campaign supporters behave.
It's pretty clear that at least as far as this one individual is concerned, Trey Grayson supporters are:
"TOO CLUCKY FOR KENTUCKY"

honestly im not a fan of anonymous speech or secrecy. i dont think it should be allowed. Then Anti American communists can be among us preaching their garbage and spreading their filth.
JFK said "The very word "secrecy is repungant in a free and open society"
I happen to agree. wether it be governemnt secrecy or some other type. Privacy on the other hand is a totally different thing that we all value and support

This reminds me of the giant Ernie Fletcher the Chandler campaign used in 03. I guess when your campaign is going under, you start dressing your staffers up as giant characters that little kids like to kick in the nuts.

@Chicken Soot: Thanks for the info. Please provide a link to an historic source for the background of mask laws. I think it would make for an interesting discussion, particularly for those of us who take our constitutional oaths seriously. The debate over which theory should prevail in the modern world is a good one. Should we outlaw wearing masks because we have one historic reference that suggests that such anonymity results in anarchy and violence? Or should we protect the right to anonymous speech which is other wise lawful? We continue with these debates endlessly it seems. Do we outlaw guns because some people wearing guns commit crimes, or do we just punish criminals and defend the rights of law abiding citizens to enjoy the protections of the constitution.
Provocative bit of information. Thank you for commenting.

The anti mask laws are results of Kentucky's 1920s days featuring Klan Rallies.

Mitch's crew resorting to chicken suits? Wow.

I cant believe this jerk!!! I am so mad right now, I can hardly see! I just got off the phone with someone who was there and I couldnt believe my ears hearing what happened.
He actually started bumping into Rand him self and getting physical with others while he had a camera man with him, basically trying to incite violence so he could get it on video tape!!! Im glad I wasnt there because I dont know if I could control or tolerate such disrespect. I have always just saw Grayson as a political opponent, but now I feel he is really an enemy. I will never vote or support him under any circumstance and I would not say that before I heard this news. I wish Bill Johnson comes back to fight for the next office Grayson runs for.
@the "blank" character that said Rand should have stuck up for this guy.... You are rediculous and you know it. Its better people like you just dont talk at all. Thank you.

Apparently it is illegal for adults in Lexington to wear a mask. I expect Paul to act on principle an take up this young mans cause, he should have been defending him against a silly law not subjecting him the police. But once again Paul lays aside his libertarian principles for political expediency.

@Angela @Noah: I would guess that it is a local law. It is not illegal to wear masks at all times, but many governmental units do have laws against wearing masks at protests and at other times in public places. See: http://www.palmettoscoop.com/2007/12/09/sc-hotline-team-romney-launching-dirty-illegal-protests/
However, there might be some question as to the constitutionality of such laws. http://lcs.www.media.mit.edu/people/foner/Essays/Civil-Liberties/Project/supreme-court-upholds-anonymity.html

The guy in the chicken suit is Justin May, a regular part of Trey Grayson's entourage at Lincoln Day dinners. Justin May was also a chairman of the Kentucky Federation of College Republicans.
It's sad that this is what Trey Grayson's campaign has boiled down to. These antics shouldn't be representative of someone who wants to be a United States Senator.
Trey Grayson is showing that his campaign is childish and hollow. These kinds of stunts are just sad and stink of desperation.

Grayson is actually expecting voters to take him seriously? If the official campaign putting out an attack website wasn't enough, now they are sending some clown in a chicken suit to disrupt a Rand Paul rally and provoke his supporters? I know that they are running a FUD (fear, uncertainty, and doubt) campaign here, but I don't see them generating much FUD by using ridiculous tactics. Such actions are likely to have an opposite effect, resulting in a lack of credibility for the Grayson campaign. It could be seen that Grayson can't win on his own merits for a while, so this kind of behavior by his campaign shouldn't surprise anybody. His campaign is starting to look like Creigh Deeds' 2009 campaign for the Virginia governorship, and we all know how that went.

Does Kentucky really have an anti-mask law?

is it illegal to wear a chicken mask around? what gave Rand's supporters any more right to protest there than Grayson's guy?

Grayson is making an ass out of himself. He also isn't doing our party any favors with this type of campaigning.
His campaign has been reduced to: "I'm not Rand Paul." He's the anti-paul candidate.
