It is pretty much a common courtesy in the world of politics that you only use photos taken of the candidate and another person of political or community notoriety if you first ask them for permission to use it for what many people will interpret as an endorsement. So I guess these questions must be asked about Trey's new photo.
Jeremy Hughes, who now works for the Grayson campaign, has formed a new Facebook group in follow up to the new web video Grayson has placed on his site in which he quotes Dr. Rand Paul saying that he is a "Duke Bluedevil" and Grayson says he supports UK. The name of the group is "Big Blue Nation For Trey".
The photo Jeremy chose for the web page appears to be a picture of Trey Grayson and University of Kentucky men's basketball coach John Calipari taken from inside of a private box at the Kentucky Speedway in Sparta Kentucky.
Did I miss an earlier announcement or is this Grayson's subtle way of notifying the world that Coach Calipari has endorsed his campaign? For what other reason would the photo of the UK coach be published in this manner in the midst of a republican primary, in conjunction with a Facebook Group formed by Grayson's political director?
Has John Calipari endorsed Trey Grayson for Senate as we are about to go into the NCAA tournaments?

No big deal in my book. Calipari is not a politician. It doesn't really matter.

So wait a minute. God forbid this happen but... John Calipari dies tonight, so by your logic, Trey Grayson can then plaster tv and mail with the picture of him and Cal b/c he's no longer alive.

@ Jonathan: News flash: Reagan is dead, Rand was a kid and not a candidate for office. Nobody could mistake a photo of Rand and his dad with RR as an endorsement of a campaign that didn't even begin while RR was alive.
Now, was his dad permitted to use those in campaign materials? Did he? My guess is that he at least asked permission or was told he could use them in a political advertisement if he in fact used them that way during Reagan's life.
Not the same thing. But thanks for commenting.

Hey County Chair: Maybe Trey Grayson shouldn't use Facebook. I'm sure the Rand Paul people have made a copy of all his pages of posts. Few of them if any would dispel the notion that he is not up to the job of US Senator.
This latest thing with the photo of Calapari is a big mistake. Now somebody is going to ask Calapari about it, it might give the press a reason to distract him and if Grayson didn't get permission to use the picture for political purposes, he's just violated an un written code of honor of long standing.
This was just the latest dumb move in a string of dumb moves that make me wonder about him. Seriously.

So you were pissed when Rand Paul sent out those mailers with him as a child and Ronald Reagan, right? Did I miss that blog post?

If I am not mistaken, this picture was placed by Coach Cal on his Twitter Page.. So if that is the case, I am not sure there is an issue..

Oh come on a picture on facebook is not an endorsement. You are really going to far... I know of political people that will not use facebook because if things just like this...
