Rand Paul is about to runaway with the title of best fundraiser again this quarter, if his numbers and Trey Grayson's numbers come in where most people think they will. Paul has openly disclosed that he has raised another impressive $650,000 this quarter while Grayson refuses to share his numbers.
Rand Paul continues to runaway with the press coverage, good and bad, every single day. The number of stories about him are far in excess of any other contender.
Rand Paul continues to runaway with poll numbers, not only those showing him ahead in the Ky. GOP primary, but also on the news that more and more dissatisfied voters are looking to become independents or republicans in this year of discontent.
But there is also emerging an image of Paul's campaign careening down the trail being pulled by runaway horses.
First he had to admit that he was not careful enough to watch what others were putting on his website. Then he had to go on defense and carefully choose his words to explain what seemed to be inconsistent positions on a couple of issues, not the least of which dealt directly with national security.
Then he found himself having to run away from a campaign staffer whose own personal websites contained very embarrassing information which reflected not so much on Paul's philosophy, as it did on his ability to make wise decisions, at least in the area of hiring staff.
Then another staffer ran away from the Paul campaign and began her own attacks on Paul's campaign manager, David Adams, and on Paul's "changed heart" with regard to re-forming the party.
Then Paul had to deal with runaway criticism that his campaign had lied about staffing decisions, calling into question the integrity of his entire operation.
Now Paul's campaign is the focus of runaway speculation that his hiring of Chip Saltsman, former candidate for RNC chair whose own clarity of judgment has been called into question, opens Paul to unnecessary accusations of racism.
But what is perhaps even more of a runaway problems seems to be that somehow bloggers have been able to gain access to copies of internal emails between Paul and his staff.
There is no suggestion that these emails were shared as a result of an official campaign policy regarding transparency. Rather, this disclosure of private emails raises a very serious questions regarding loyalty, leaks and perhaps even sabotage.
Paul needs to get hold of this thing quickly before everybody begins to run away.

The Saltsman thing is 100% not true.
