According to Robert Wenzel, over at EconomicPolicyJournal.com, Lew Rockwell, well known libertarian commentator, emailed to confirm that according to the Paul campaign they did NOT hire Chip Saltsman as has been reported.
But the issue won't die until the campaign addresses this directly, since there is still that copy of an email, purportedly from Rand Paul, which seems to suggest otherwise.
Although the email did not say the campaign had "hired" Saltsman, it does say that Saltsman "will be doing some consulting."
Like most major mistakes in the political arena its not the first one that is the most destructive, it's the attempt to deny the truth, parse words or worse yet be called a liar that ends up being credited as the ultimate death blow.
