Mike McConnell, Jefferson County Attorney, will face opposition this year from a former prosecutor who plans to sue him over sex discrimination, violation of the whistle blower act and other charges in Federal Court, "raising concerns" about McConnell's behavior.
McConnell, according to a story in the Courier Journal, fired the veteran prosecutor over what she claims was a minor disagreement compared to more serious issues with other prosecutors.
The fired prosecutor, Glenda Bradshaw, was the former head of the criminal prosecutions division of the County Attorney's office with nearly 25 years experience as a prosecutor.
McConnell is a career politician having been both a district court and circuit court judge before becoming the County's attorney.
It is unclear at this time how damaging these allegations will be to McConnell's political and professional career, or whether the final suit will include allegations which could trigger ethical misconduct charges under Kentucky Bar Association rules.
