Word from Bardstown is that republican state senate candidate Jimmy Higdon has defeated his much better funded democratic opponent in a special election today.
Two points of interest. First, despite the efforts of Steve Beshear to change the balance of power in Frankfort, his influence continues to be rejected.
Second, United States Senate candidate Rand Paul was all over this race and the results of the contest bode well for his status in the future of the republican party.

Did you see that Trey Grayson is now trying to use Jimmy's win to his own advantage? http://www.whas11.com/community/blogs/political-blog/Paul-and-Grayson-both-basking-in-Higdon-Senate-win-79023992.html
I talk about it briefly in a sidebar here that links to your other post.
Is it over for Trey Grayson if Rand Paul wins the Q4 Money race?
