I know, I know, but I am attending a convention and blogging is being squeezed in between seminars and late running awards dinners. Hope to have more soon. Stay tuned.
Dealers who just spent thousands of dollars running media ads to invite folks in to buy new cars under the 'cash for clunkers' program, just got pooped on. The program is going broke and will be closed.
So what about all those ads? And how about that stimulus to the economy?
Another in a long line of debacles brought to you by the short sighted, photo op seeking, racist in chief.
FoxNews fought a court battle to obtain Federal Reserve documents showing details of how bailout money was spent, but a Federal judge has said no to the request keeping the information secret.
So how's that transparency thing going for you Barry?
Former Boone GOP Chair, Steve Smith, running for the commission seat being vacated by Cathy Flaig as she runs against incumbent Judge Executive, Gary Moore delivered this press release last night showing a strong start to his campaign:
SMITH ANNOUNCES CAMPAIGN ENDORSEMENTS AND UPCOMING FUNDRAISER
Hebron resident Steven J. Smith, who last week declared his candidacy for Boone County Commissioner, announced today endorsements from a broad group of current and former Boone County and Northern Kentucky elected officials. In addition to the previously announced endorsements from Congressman Geoff Davis and Secretary of State Trey Grayson, Smith revealed endorsements from the following:
State Representative Sal Santoro State Representative Addia Wuchner Boone County Judge/Executive Gary Moore Boone County Commissioner Charlie Kenner Boone County Commissioner Terri Moore Boone County Attorney Robert Neace Commonwealth’s Attorney Linda Tally Smith Boone County Sheriff Michael Helmig City of Walton Mayor Phil Trzop State Senator (ret.) Dick Roeding State Representative (ret.) Paul Marcotte 4th District Republican Party Chair Kevin Sell
In response to these endorsements, Smith said: "I am honored by the willingness of these elected officials and community leaders to publicly support my candidacy. These endorsements show the faith that our current and past elected officials have in my ability to serve as an elected official. I am similarly gratified by the overwhelming support and encouragement that I have received over the past week from so many other Boone Countians. I look forward to representing them as Boone County Commissioner." In addition to these endorsements, Smith revealed that he has already raised more than $25,000.00 for his race during the first week of his campaign. Additionally, Smith's campaign team announced that prominent Boone County businessman and community leader Richard Knock and his wife JoAnn will be hosting the first fundraiser for Smith's campaign on September 16, 2009 at their Union home. “The financial commitments to my campaign during this first week have exceeded all of my expectations,” Smith said, “we expect that this fundraiser will take us a long way toward raising the funds that we will need for this campaign. I thank Dick and his wife JoAnn for opening their house for this fundraiser and for all of their support for my campaign.”
Rumors are that Smith will have primary opposition which could put some of the names on this list in the uncomfortable position of endorsing one republican over another so early. But Smith's impressive list of endorsements and fundraising will be a tough hurdle for any comer.
Ten college students were enjoying a birthday party at an off-campus
apartment when two armed men burst through the door. Police say the
intruders separated the men from the women and demanded their cell
phones and money. That's when one of the male students took action,
drawing his gun from a backpack and shooting at the suspect guarding
the men. That suspect fled the apartment. The student then hurried to
the women, where he found the second suspect about to commit a rape. He
yelled for the girls to get down and fired several shots at the
suspect, who jumped out the window and died nearby. "Apparently, [the
dead suspect's] intent was to rape and murder us all," said student
Charles Bailey, "I think all of us are really cognizant of the fact
that we could have all been killed." (WSB-TV, Atlanta, GA, 05/04/09)
Okay, one day back and gotta run again. A good friend from Alaska is coming to visit and I need to get to the airport. Surely to goodness no more big news is going to develop until I get my big powerful computer back up and running today is it?
Unless of course that drinking party at the White House gets out of hand. Stay tuned.
