How can you tell when a politician has just taken a really hard hit to the jaw? He goes on defense and starts looking at the ref. Obama has enjoyed so much adoration lately he momentarily forgot he was in the fight of his life and Senator McCain just tagged him a good one.
First there is the new ad highlighting the fact that Obama is just another product being marketed by the media, like Britney Spears and Paris Hilton. It cuts right to the bone when it asks if Obama is ready to lead our nation. Of course he's not, and everybody knows it but this ad takes the momentum of his made for Hollywood trip to Europe and turns it on him big time.
Second, now Obama knows the real fight is here at home. In a speech in Missouri he said this:
"Nobody thinks that Bush and McCain have a real answer to the challenges we face. So what they're going to try to do is make you scared of me," Obama said. "You know, he's not patriotic enough, he's got a funny name, you know, he doesn't look like all those other presidents on the dollar bills."
He's looking at the voters like a hard hit fighter looks at the ref with a little complaint in his eye and a little tell tale sign that he's just been hurt. His speech didn't offer any return fire, it was a very revealing glimpse into his vulnerability. And he forgot his manners. It may be acceptable for pundits and hacks to refer the president of the United States by his last name only, but United States Senators are expected to exhibit the respect and decorum of their office and use the proper identification, "President Bush" in public speeches. Obama has slipped into the street slang that reveals his real lack of experience.
And yes, polls do indicate that many Americans are concerned that his Muslim background and his family history might be worthy of significant investigation in a world at war with Muslim extremists.
And yes, there are and continue to be reasons American voters might ask legitimate questions about his patriotism. We will not forget his refusal to wear a flag pin, his refusal to hold his hand over his heart during our National Anthem, his twenty year relationship with a radical church that openly preached the damnation of America. And voters do have legitimate concerns when it comes to examining his priorities after he spent so much time kissing up to Europeans whose interests are not always aligned with ours.
Now, as far as how he looks compared to other "presidents on dollar bills", well first of all, the only president on the dollar bill is Washington and quite frankly other than John Adams, few other presidents have ever really looked much like our first president. Additionally, once again he is playing the race card himself. Who does he think this appeals to? Does he believe that Americans, other than Americans who call themselves "people of color", care what he looks like? It is the core group of his voting block, the black voters in America, to whom this appeal was being made. It is they in their churches who preach and teach separatism, racism and entitlement.
Now to the coup de grace Obama just this week also said that he favored some sort of "deeds" by America to make up for the harsh treatment "people of color" have received over the years. He said he opposed ending affirmative action which is an euphemism for "racial preference".
So, Mr. O, now that you've had your moment in the sun with the crowd attending a rock concert in Germany as your backdrop, you find yourself back home where John McCain has been plodding along, ignored by the press, raising money and keeping you from developing any kind of meaningful lead despite the chants of your entourage all calling you "Champ" as you make your way back into the ring.
Well the bell has rung, and the fight begun and you've just exposed your glass jaw. What a delicious bout this may turn out to be for the fans in the crowd who came to see you get your clock cleaned.
