Oh, Thank God!

Did you see the Bruce Willis movie, Live Free or Die Hard? Heck of a flick where terrorists take down the nation's infrastructure by disrupting all of our computers and the Internet.

You won't believe how scary this scenario is until you live through what I just did.  My computer crashed.

I mean it REALLY  crashed.  My highly skilled guru tried everything to save it.  We started with a powerful virus/spyware scan, then did minor transplant surgery installing a new power unit.  That didn't work.

So then we did major surgery and installed a new mother board.  Still no life.

Next we tried a new processor, new ram and before you knew it we had virtually rebuilt the entire thing.  Then came the bad news, despite heroic efforts, she couldn't be saved.

And worse yet, all this happened just before the holidays when it seems everybody is off work, no parts are available and shipping is as slow as, well, as slow as Christmas.

But finally, yesterday, my guru at NKOL delivered to me a brand spanking new, lightning fast, powerful new monster of a computer which plugged in and worked right off the bat.

Unfortunately for me, the stack of software which I have to load and configure is about three feet high on my desk.  It will be a daunting task to put back all the little gizmos that made my addiction so much fun.

So, for the time being, I am still out here in the country, but  now I am connected once more to the world wide web.  Give me a day or two and I'll be back to blogging with the start of the new year, well January 2nd I should say.

***COMPUTER FLU***

Sorry for no posts but I just got to a borrowed computer.  My CPU is in the computer hospital with a bug.  Hopefully it will be well enough to be released today.  In the meantime, keep checking back.  Thanks.

The John Edwards story has all the fingerprints of the Obama cocaine story.  I don't put anything past these people.

I can't believe I am actually citing to a "National Enquirer" article, but this one has all the twists and turns of an Anna Nicole story.  Now the pregnant woman may be carrying the child of John Edwards OR Andrew Young.

The eternally paternal FED

The Federal Reserve plans to implement new "tougher" restrictions in order to protect consumers from the downside of sub-prime mortgages.  Do you know who the "Federal Reserve Bank" really is, or why this is a farce?

First of all, the Federal Reserve Bank is not the government.  In 1913 the most powerful bankers in America convinced the government to create a "super bank" and to give it the authority to control the entire flow of money in the United States.  The "Fed" is run by a board of directors, appointed by the President, who then function independently and can only be removed "for cause".  The "fed" is a bank, a HUGE bank which by virtue of its control over the American economy, really runs the country.

In response to press reports of burgeoning loan defaults triggered the predicted inability of borrowers to comply with the terms of mortgages they bought which were attractive because they had low initial monthly payments but scheduled to increase after a fixed period of time, the "Fed" wants to jump in and save these poor souls.

I have a better idea.  How about creating incentives for teachers who educate high school and college students about economics, and budgeting so that the next generation of American citizens will be smart enough to spend within their means? 

Of course this might meet with significant resistance seeing as how a population of voters that understands the economy and knows how to spend responsibly might be considerably less inclined to elect republicans and democrats to Congress who can't seem to grasp the same concepts.

Frankfort Dems back to playing musical chairs

For decades the KyDems treated political jobs like Indians swapped trade beads at rendezvous.  Back room deals were made to keep the old guard in power by handing out taxpayer supported paychecks in exchange for cooperation.

Well it looks like they are up to their old tricks.  Mark Hebert is reporting that Brandon Spencer, the democrat house member from Greg Stumbo's old district, has flip-flopped on his recent promise to run again and will soon resign the seat.  This means that Gov. Beshear will set a date for a special election and Greg Stumbo will likely run and win the race.

PageOne reports that Spencer has been given a job in Frankfort as a consolation prize, or in other words, in exchange for playing the game of musical chairs.

Now just imagine how the press would treat this story if it had occurred under the Fletcher administration.

Same old song and dance, just as we predicted.

Morning Funnies

DRUDGE: "John Edwards Love Child Scandal- Woman linked to candidate PREGNANT AND IN HIDING"

Granted, the headline is completely unrevealing in that it displays only the front page of "The National Enquirer", but it is without doubt an attention grabber.  Is Drudge suggesting the headline is true, or that it's libelous?

On the other hand, and this is way outside of the box, is it possible that the Edwards campaign planted this story with the Enquirer just to draw attention to him?  I mean, he has completely lost the spotlight to the proteges of Oprah and Bill Clinton.  And since he has previously demonstrated a sickening propensity to make emotional appeals (remember, his wife has cancer) maybe somebody thought that a little sympathy arising from an unwarranted and salacious attack might re-focus voters on his candidacy.

Oh, and if you REALLY want to think WAY, WAY, WAY outside of the box, since it is well known that the "handsome" John Edwards is admittedly uncomfortable around gay men, maybe somebody thought that a little tidbit of a scandal hinting at ongoing hetero activity might quiet suspicions regarding his sexual orientation.  I mean, "Slick Willy" got a second term didn't he?

Folks, it's politics.  And as they say, if something happens in politics, you can darned well be sure that somebody planned it that way.

Hillary: "You can look inside my mouth if you want"

Campaigning at a cattle auction Hillary told the crowd:

"I've been to cattle barns before and sales before, in Arkansas, but I've never felt like I was the one that was being bid on," Clinton told a crowd in western Iowa. "I know you're going to inspect me. You can look inside my mouth if you want.

Uh, no thanks.  We've seen inside your head and your heart, and that is scary enough.
