The Supreme Court and The Second Amendment ***UPDATED***

As discussed here recently the United States Supreme Court decision to rule upon the meaning of the Second Amendment has many, on both sides of the case, understandably nervous. Here is an excellent article on the topic.

And by the way, thanks for pointing out a spelling error. I am using a form of the program which does not have spell check. Having had the same secretary for 26 years, the benefit of spell check with most programs and being a rather thick fingered typist who does not proof read my posts, I humbly acknowledge making both spelling and typing mistakes from time to time.

When I began this project my dry sardonic wit caused me to choose this color scheme and format in part as a parody. Okay, enough already. Hopefully by Monday our new look will freshen things up a bit. Thanks for your support.

But police say Van Arsdale, a 46-year-old rock collector, was not about to comply. He dropped to a knee, drew a .45 Colt revolver and fired a shot, missing the bandit by inches but causing him to flee. “Whatever drugs he’s doing altered his brain chemistry and he did something he probably didn’t want to do,” Van Arsdale said. “When somebody points a gun at me, it alters my brain chemistry and makes me do things I don’t normally do.” (The Salt Lake Tribune, Salt Lake City, UT, 08/08/07)

Beshear's continuing connection with criminal defendants

I reported here during the election about Steve Beshear's connections with various convicted criminals and criminal defendants.

I thought for sure this would stop once he was elected.

I guess I was wrong.

Henry Vance Loses Appeal
Remember former state house member and "Bluegrass Conspiracy" actor Henry Vance? Well, he's lost his appeal to get his Kentucky insurance license back.

Vance was a prominent state official who was convicted in 1987 on a federal charge of conspiracy to transport a firearm that was used in a murder. The conviction was based on al allegation that Vance supplied a gun that he knew was going to be used to kill a Florida businessman. But that conviction didn't result in Vance losing his Kentucky insurance license until 2000, when the Insurance Department reviewed his renewal application and decided to deny Vance a license based on his 1987 felony conviction. Vance sued, losing in Franklin Circuit Court. He's now lost at the Court of Appeals level too. The appelate judges voted 3-0 to uphold the Insurance Department's denial of a license to Vance. Vance's two lawyers are Lacey Smith, a former legislator who was tried himself on criminal charges and is now a member of Steve Beshear's transition team, and a guy Vance once worked for, former governor Julian Carroll.

Fred Thompson Ad: More revealing than the repubican debate

Some have suggested that the republican debate was dominated by Romney and Giuliani. Huckabee got an honorable mention. But when it comes to revealing the record of these media darlings, Fred Thompson has the last word.

More Clinton Campaign Dishonesty, this time CNN has to admit it

Perhaps one of the most frightening things about Hillary Clinton is her pathological dishonesty, reminiscent of her husband Bill's willing perjury. However, things over at Clinton Inc. are starting to unravel, as CNN was forced to report.

It seems that not only did they plant a young college student to ask a staged question at a public forum, but now they have been caught planting a video question in the YouTube/CNN televised republican debate.

A question about gays in the military was posed by Colonel Keith Kerr (Ret), CSMR.

It turns out that he is actually a member of Hillary Clinton's Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transexual Americans For Hillary Steering Committee. He's also part of a film production crew trying overturn the "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" policy.

In a rare, yet half-hearted, admission of wrongdoing CNN's Anderson Cooper fessed up.

What is really interesting about this "mea culpa" is the fact that the alternative media and the Internet are credited by Cooper with having brought this matter to light. Take a look.

Beshear's appointment raises concerns

Gov.-elect Steve Beshear has picked Phil Osborne, a lobbyist for government contractors with a firm that bears his name, to be his communications director. Concerns about the ethical propriety of this choice are widespread.

Beshear, so far, is standing by his decision and has deferred to the Ethics Commission to rule on this selection. What a shame.

Beshear used the trumped up notion of "corruption" with which Governor Fletcher has been painted as the main component of his campaign. Yet he unabashedly wants the owner of a lobbying firm sitting right next to him at all times while he governs.

In a business where appearances are reality, this appears to be evidence of poor judgment.

In fact, the statements of Osborne himself make it clear that in considering taking the job, he puts the best interest of his company ahead of loyalty to the Beshear administration.

Which of course raises the question, knowing this and yet standing by his choice, whose interest does Beshear put first?
